How We Manufacture & Cleaning Tips

At Smart SMT Tools, we understand the importance of providing an extensive range of stenciling materials. From undeformable aluminum frame to high tension polyester, we aim to ensure that materials are suited to all industries and applications:

  • Steel sheet: neat 304# stainless steel with a hardness of 410 or so, carbon content less than 0.08;
  • Adhesive mesh: solvent-resistant AB glue can firmly fix the joint between the steel sheet and the mesh;
  • Mesh: high tension polyester mesh with the tension of 40 N, available for long-term printing;
  • Aluminum frame: aluminum alloy frame features thick wall, high tension without deformation.

How we get your impeccable stencils prepared:

  • Confirm the steel mesh parameters and send us the steel mesh data or production materials.
  • Design steel mesh cutting drawings according to pcb files.
  • Seal the steel sheet inside the silk screen frame.
  • Laser cut.
  • Polish the steel sheet. (to get rid of burrs and will be electrolyzed and sealed after grinding if electrochemical polishing is required)
  • QC inspection.

Service life and cleaning tips:

  • The steel mesh should be cleaned (or wiped) before use to remove dirt carried during transportation.
  • It should be cleaned in time and returned to the packing box and placed on a special storage rack after use.
  • The steel mesh should be placed in a dedicated shelf and placed vertically. The plates and plates should be separated from each other (film can be attached), and stacking and mutual contact are prohibited. For steel meshes waiting to be cleaned, do not place them at will, to avoid accidental damage.

How do I choose my stencil thickness?

What are fiducials? Do I need them on my PCB stencil?

Fiducials are alignment marks consisting of a 1mm circle surrounded by a 2mm clearance. If your screen printer is equipped with a vision system, fiducials half cut (into the thickness) of the stencil will allow for the printer to automatically align the board with the stencil. If you are manually aligning the stencil with the board, you could either fully cut the fiducials through the stencil or just use any surface mount pad to align the stencil.
